TRX Gold is also building a new mine, Buckreef Gold, during the start of the United Nations ‘Decade of Action’ for Sustainable Development Goals, and the mining industry’s role in achieving those SDGs is becoming more apparent and urgent each day. Our work will be framed in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals and we will report on our sustainability actions and achievements within this framework.

  • Low carbon footprint by maximizing grid power and minimizing diesel usage
  • All sites and suppliers to be certified by International Cyanide Management Code
  • Dry stack tailing will minimize environmental risks

Social

  • 45% ownership by Tanzania through STAMICO
  • Granting land package access to artisanal miners
  • Contribute to community development via gold royalties
  • ~100% local workforce & committed to local procurement
  • Developing major water system to provide communities access to clean water
  • Donated 300 desks to Kaseme Secondary School
  • Company Chair developed the Bulyanhulu Hospital, orphanage in Kabanga, and rebuilt the Mother Teresa School for the visually impaired in Dar Es Salaam
